About

Athens Sufi Gathering is a welcoming home for souls seeking spiritual  development, community, and a deeper connection with their Creator through engagement with Sufi concepts and practices. Athens Sufi Gathering meets regularly at Work.Shop (160 Winston Dr #9, Athens, GA 30601) in Athens Georgia for prayer, meditative chanting and spiritual discussion.

Note that our prayers follow the changing pattern of the sun and the rhythms of the earth. Since our gathering times will generally follow the changing time of the mid-afternoon prayer (called “Asr” in Arabic) please see our Calendar page for exact times and dates, and our Gathering Information page for what to expect at our gatherings. We also have some special events outside the normal gathering time during holidays and participate in local Interfaith Events.

We welcome Sufis of all affiliations and non-Sufis interested in learning about and participating in Sufi beliefs and practices. While we affirm that our Sufi practice is rooted in Islamic beliefs and values, we welcome all to our gatherings regardless of religious affiliation. We do not require you to identify as a Sufi or Muslim at any time to participate. Our meetings are truly open to all. Please join us whenever suits your schedule.

Volunteer-led

Our gatherings are volunteer based. It is not required for participation but everyone is welcome to bring tea, coffee and healthy snacks to share.

Donations

Donations are also not required for participation but are welcome from those who would like to help cover our modest expenses. See more information under Donate.
